No, really:
And that’s all. It’s been a heinous week so far, and I don’t know what blogging might happen before I get internet at home again on Monday.

I have too much going on right now. I can’t possibly get all this done all at once. Why is it that when I have one huge thing going on, every other huge thing decides that it’s the perfect time to present itself?
I said I’d teach again next quarter, but I’m beginning to wonder if that’s such a good idea…
On a lighter note, the cats have discovered the fireplaces, which have been consequently covered with empty boxes. Johnny Cat, whose socks are normally white, is currently sporting grey socks. When I get a chance, both cats are getting baths (hey – I gave them two full days to do the job themselves, and nobody stepped up).
I’m eating lunch like mad, so that I can get back to one of the several big things I have to deal with. Ugh.
We moved all our stuff into our new house, which is consequently very full of stuff (when did I get all this stuff, exactly?). The new house is so much more awesome than the old one, and has the added benefit of a large open expanse of uncarpeted flooring, so we can watch the cats slide around at Cat Freakout Hour (which happens, like, three times daily).
In honor of the new house and to christen it properly, the ChickenGoddess and I knit in the dining room, listened to Blue Oyster Cult, and consumed cupcakes. The day before we had an impromptu picnic in the kitchen. I am nearly done with the pink socks, and I think those will need to be finished so they can also be the first knitting project finished in the new house (as well as the first project worked on). By some bizarre stroke of fate, my knitting managed to make it to the top of the pile, and so was very easy to locate. Not so easy to locate is the power cable for my laptop, so here’s hoping that I find it before the battery runs out of juice. I might have to send out some emails to the people who helped pack things.
And now I’m back into the crazy work week, and am waiting for my husband to bring me the lunch that I forgot (it is hibachi chicken! and fried rice!).
Here is my latest favorite comic:
This weekend is shaping up to be perhaps the longest weekend of my existence. I will hopefully be able to post photos afterward, though.
Bear with me, people.
But also me being busy/lazy. Go check out the awesomeness that is Lotus yarns:
Go look! I’m currently using Aura in Walk With the Ghost for my Rivendell socks, and it’s yummy. Go forth and buy yarn.
This week, that is.
Not only are we moving the rest of our stuff this weekend, but we also have to get the car fixed (again). It’s part of owning an ancient, high-mileage Volvo. According to the mechanic, it’s only a thermostat issue, and therefore cheap (and easy) to fix. That’s a relief. I like it when things in my life come in manageable chunks. However, this has made us realize that perhaps we need to purchase another vehicle, if only to cover us in these sorts of situations. There was a mad scramble last night to find me a way to get to class this evening (thank you, ChickenGoddess Husband). If all goes well, the husband will be able to come get me from work and take me to class in our car, and I won’t need the favor I’ve asked.
As part of my more productive evenings, I finally gave in and packed up my stash. I’ve got two whole boxes of yarn! Decent-sized ones, at that. I know that most knitters have more stash than that, but considering that I only let myself purchase sock yarn, that’s a pretty decent collection. I’m really excited to start setting up the guest/yarn/sewing room. And the rest of the house, too, of course. Our kitchen is four times bigger than the one we’re moving out of, so now I have room to do dyeing at home (I’ve promised the ChickenGoddess use of the space). I hope to have lots of beautiful yarn to show off in the next few months…
1. I love the Fug Girls. Not only do they do an excellent job of mocking celebrities, but they also took a suggestion I made once for a topic of mockery (specifically, the EW Twilight cover). It was probably more than just me, but it was an ego boost. Now, they’ve pretty much summed up my feelings about Edward with this little gem:
2. I’ve not seen the series (nobody has), but Tru Blood has the most awesomest website ever:
It warms the cockles of my heart.
As you might have gathered already, I went to the Breaking Dawn release party (I missed the Harry Potter parties, so this was the next best thing) on Friday night, and spent a couple of hours with teenagers at a Barnes & Noble. They were all giddy and in costume, and I had fun being vicariously 16 again. I don’t remember much of being 16, except that it was awkward and confusing and, at times, a lot of fun. Well, when I wasn’t at soccer practice, at least. That was not so fun (sometimes it was, but overall, well, I love soccer but I hate running).
So, yeah. There were some silly contests, and the staff was all dressed up, I knit at the cafe while pretending not to be one of the few grown-ups, and then I bought my book, took it home, and put it down before I finished because it was putting me to sleep. And also I had to move many boxes the next day. Note to self: do not do an all night reading session the evening before a big move. It’s a really stupid idea.
The first part of our big move went well. We got all of the nonessential stuff out into the new house and met some nice neighbors. Yesterday we did the grocery shopping, and I watched several episodes of a cheesy Lifetime vampire series, and then I went to bed and dreamed about being the worst Catwoman the world has ever known.
So all in all, a pretty productive weekend.
Next weekend, we’re moving all the rest of our stuff. I’m excited and dreading it, all at the same time.
But I don’t want to spoil it for those of you who have not, so I put it under a cut:
