About HappyGoth

By day, I'm a graphic designer. By night, I'm a knitter. I'm doing my part to keep Hotlanta stylish. I imagine that if you don't already understand the title of the blog, you're probably confused and perhaps slightly annoyed, but never fear - I do have a reason (and it's a good one). Having gone to hear Stephanie Pearl McPhee, and then having been inspired to blog about knitting, I found myself wondering what to call the blog. I recalled a conversation I had with Mouse and the Chicken Goddess about why it is a Bad Idea to anger knitters - this conversation was following SPM, aka the Yarn Harlot telling the assembled throng about Those Who Do Not Understand Knitting and Therefore Belittle It Much to the Chagrin of Others, or TWDNUKTBMCO, which is not the acronym she used but is the one I'm using because I forgot hers - that is, we are numerous and we all have very pointy sticks, easily transforming into an angry mob. Therefore, knitters = angry mob.

Why I Knit, #7

Because I love being a geek, and I love that knitters are totally geeks. Case in point: The Mario Scarf Is it weird that I so want to do this for the final ship level in Super Mario 3? You … Continue reading

Whew. What a weekend +1. Day 1 happenings are not terribly exciting, since I count Day 1 as being Thursday, and Thursday was mostly just getting stuff done in preparation for the next day. The brother-in-law came into town the … Continue reading

Tentacular

DragonCon was so that. I’ll give a thorough report this weekend; yesterday night I ended up working until the wee hours of the morning, but I have photos uploaded, so I’ll show them off soon. In the meantime, here’s a … Continue reading

Two unfortunate things

And one fortunate thing: Unfortunate first; Not only do I not have photos to show off (I’m such a tease, I know), but also my new socks both stain the inside of my shoes pink and also smell like dog … Continue reading

If I were a man

(Image stolen from here) I’d want to be just like Vincent Price. I swear I’m not dead (the above statement is a complete nonsequitur, by the way); I’m just very, very busy. Work  has been kicking my ass, and DragonCon … Continue reading

One thing I love

Klaus Pierre. Seriously. This guy is awesome (and yes, I know that it’s all very cleverly written, yaddah yaddah; it doesn’t make him any less awesome).

In-Ja!

If I were a man, I’d be rather hirsute, I think (though I don’t find beards and moustaches attractive on men, personally, as a woman). I’d have a big, bushy, Regency-style beard/sideburns combo, like a walrus, and I’d so totally … Continue reading

Still crazy here

So instead, I bring you people on a crazy water slide in Germany: Alas, I don’t speak any German, but I can only imagine what they’re saying (because I probably said similar things the first time I went on one … Continue reading

Today

Just in case (it’s been nuts, and my internet isn’t so hot at home), I bring you a shining example of My People: Truly, a model for us all to strive to become. And to think I’ve been out of … Continue reading
