DragonCon, Day 1

Whew. What a weekend +1.

Day 1 happenings are not terribly exciting, since I count Day 1 as being Thursday, and Thursday was mostly just getting stuff done in preparation for the next day.

The brother-in-law came into town the night before, and then we all got up late (I was at work until 2:30 in the morning, trying to wrap things up so that I could have a weekend free of work-guilt) and tried out the pizza place around the corner. I think we may very well have found our new delivery pizza place, to replace Savage Pizza. The sauce was spicy and the toppings great, and everybody was super-nice, which seems to be the standard for our new neighborhood.

After that was errand-running, and I sucked it up and went to American Apparel for socks, and then Jennie called to let me know that the registration line was around the block already, so we headed over and met Nick and Miffy to stand in said line for our badges. Thursday is not usually very exciting, line-wise, but much fun was had by all and we went to R. Thomas for dinner, and then dropped everyone back at the hotel and went home. Later, I discovered that Baobh and her husband had arrived that evening, but did not find this out until the following morning, so pooh. We saw much more of them the rest of the weekend, so that was alright.

At this point, I had no idea what insanity was in store. But I have photos, and will elaborate more on that tomorrow, when we look at Day 2, otherwise known as Friday (and we see how much I remember…)

About HappyGoth

By day, I'm a graphic designer. By night, I'm a knitter. I'm doing my part to keep Hotlanta stylish. I imagine that if you don't already understand the title of the blog, you're probably confused and perhaps slightly annoyed, but never fear - I do have a reason (and it's a good one). Having gone to hear Stephanie Pearl McPhee, and then having been inspired to blog about knitting, I found myself wondering what to call the blog. I recalled a conversation I had with Mouse and the Chicken Goddess about why it is a Bad Idea to anger knitters - this conversation was following SPM, aka the Yarn Harlot telling the assembled throng about Those Who Do Not Understand Knitting and Therefore Belittle It Much to the Chagrin of Others, or TWDNUKTBMCO, which is not the acronym she used but is the one I'm using because I forgot hers - that is, we are numerous and we all have very pointy sticks, easily transforming into an angry mob. Therefore, knitters = angry mob.
