I’ve begun to think of what I might knit next. I’ve got a mostly finished scarf that I need to finish, a couple of pairs of socks that are in progress, and a failed squid hat that I need to frog completely and rethink (the pattern was terribly flawed, and I’m going to need to do some reworking of it before I start again). And there’s the sweater, the one that is going much faster than I’d expected, up until the point (like now) when I run out of completed stitch counting conversion (because I suck at math). So I’ve got time for other things.
It’s Laminaria from this month’s Knitty. It sounds like it’s way above my head, but I’ve bought a lovely new skein of laceweight yarn (Prism Lace Wool in Blue Lagoon), and I think it will be perfect for this project. See?
It’s pretty much this beautiful, only wound now and ready to be knit. I think I’m going to start with a swatch of the star pattern (what the pattern recommends), and see how much my brain hurts afterward. The good news is that every WS row is plain purl, so it shouldn’t be too bad. All the ones I’ve looked at from Victorian Lace Today have patterning on both sides, plus this pick-up-and-knit border (which terrifies me, though it shouldn’t), so I think I will wait to do those after I get in my Ravenscroft Laci (because I’ve already chosen a pattern for it).
It seems as though lately I’m really into blues and greens, which might have something to do with spring coming up, or perhaps I’m just sick of purple and magenta. It’s probably a little of both.
[Note: Aargh! The coding is broken! I will have to play with it later. Sorry about that little paragraph of text next to the photo.
ETA: Okay, so whatever I did fiddling with the code seems to have worked. Never mind!]
Oh, thanks! I hope so, too. It’s kind of intimidating right now, but exciting at the same time.
(I am really happy to see that somebody not in my knitting group reads my blog!)
Oh I love that yarn you bought. Beautiful colors.
Good luck with the project … I hope it comes out wonderfully beautiful for you.
Best,
