The Creationism Museum

Or, The Post In Which I Link To Another Post Because I Don’t Have Time To Be Original.

Or, T.P.I.W.I.L.T.A.P.B.I.D.H.T.T.B.O.

Geseundheit.

Anyway, here’s the link. I apologize if it offends any creationists reading my blog, but I, too, feel that I am a Good Christian (TM) and I just can’t buy into the Creationist stuff. I am married to a physicist. There are certain things I just can’t swallow.

So Tpiwiltapbidhttbo to all of you.

Little stuff for today

I don’t feel like relating the weekend’s events yet (though I will soon enough). Instead, I give you this:

Glass! It’s glass! I want about a hundred and fifty of these, but I don’t have room in my house for that many (I’d have things other than octopuses; there are jellyfish, lionfish, coral, and other sea things as well). I love sea creatures. Only we don’t do fish well. The husband and I had some tetras, then one ate all the others (plus the catfish), then it lived for three years off the life forces of the other fish, then it died when we moved. Now the tank stands empty, and the only things we can think of to get are things that would be really startled by the cat. I want a tiny octopus, but I don’t want to clean its tank every two days when the cat decides to jump at it and then it inks itself.

And that’s my message for you, folks: a glass octopus never inks itself.

I should so not have read all of ESC’s blog today.

[Note: I just now remembered that my mom reads my blog. Oops. Sorry, Mom.]

Ah, Evil Science Chick, you truly are evil. This was me about halfway in:

I promise that’s the last you’ll see of the LOLcats on my blog. Maybe.

Anyway, I found my camera cord, so there are pictures Continue reading →

Am I such a geek?

That I want to go do this RIGHT NOW?

Symphonic Knitting

And all I can think of while watching this is that I bet it’d sound different if you were knitting continental style.

Knitting needles held by Freda Mohr (left) and Laure Drogoul are hooked up to a device created by Drogoul that amplifies the click-clack sound of the needles as the women work.

I really like the dog under all the yarn. He’s like, “Yeah, I’m art.” Or something.

This also reinforces just how much I like Baltimore and all its weirdness.

Did I mention

That I have the awesomest job ever?

I just finished a glass of wine and am waiting for it to wear off so that I can drive home.

Most excellent.

I need (NEED) to replicate this:

uc-brain.jpguc-brain2.jpg

“Known for stretching the fashion limits with his avant garde design for the label Undercover, Jun Takashi recently came out with this Brain Bag. An intricate knit of wool resembling the three-pound jelly structure encapsulated by the skull, it’s playful but also looks mature and sophisticated and holds its own among other designer handbags.

I will spare you most of the puns, but for any of you needing or wanting a bit more brain, the one-off handbag is available at Someday.”

[Found through BoingBoing via Cool Hunting]

I just need to figure out how it is done. And modify it so that I don’t get sued (though I don’t plan on selling it, so it might be alright). I’m thinking kind of greyish pink, with tinier whorls? Maybe coming out of a skull? Discuss.

Incidentally, I’m feeling much better, and I think I’m finally over the plague. Also, I told my mom about my blog (hi, Mom!). We’ll see how this plays out.

Happy Halloween

That is, I am sick:

I had to go to work in costume, though. It was imperative. I plan on leaving very soon. But only two of us had on costumes (plus two dogs), so it merited a photo shoot.

I’ve got a little Captain in me. Please drink responsibly. (what am I saying? I’m a pirate!)

Bang! This is the best photo of the bunch, by far. Mostly because you can’t see my face.

This really says it all, I think. My legs look like they’re about 14 inches long.

And so this evening I will probably sit on the couch, knit, and hope my head drains before tomorrow, because I have much to do. Happy Hallowe’en, everyone!

In honor of Hallowe’en:

I give you this:

Kind of a Halloween present for Jennie (just in case this sinus infection I have makes me miss the club).

HAPPY HALLOWE’EN!

The Case of the Phantom Camera Cord

Or at least that’s what I’d call it, if I were Nancy Drew.

I gave the bear to the happy pregnant lady, who declared that it’s her baby’s first bear (score, me!). We took photos but I have misplaced my camera cord somewhere so my photos are stuck on the camera until I find the cord and put the photos on the internet. I also took photos of the Orca Tail Noro scarf I started, but those are stuck on the camera as well.

And then I carved pumpkins with my husband and Jennie and I didn’t think to pull the photo she posted on her site, so no pictures of that, either.

Oh, well. It was all awesome, trust me. I just can’t display the awesomeness.
