About HappyGoth

By day, I'm a graphic designer. By night, I'm a knitter. I'm doing my part to keep Hotlanta stylish. I imagine that if you don't already understand the title of the blog, you're probably confused and perhaps slightly annoyed, but never fear - I do have a reason (and it's a good one). Having gone to hear Stephanie Pearl McPhee, and then having been inspired to blog about knitting, I found myself wondering what to call the blog. I recalled a conversation I had with Mouse and the Chicken Goddess about why it is a Bad Idea to anger knitters - this conversation was following SPM, aka the Yarn Harlot telling the assembled throng about Those Who Do Not Understand Knitting and Therefore Belittle It Much to the Chagrin of Others, or TWDNUKTBMCO, which is not the acronym she used but is the one I'm using because I forgot hers - that is, we are numerous and we all have very pointy sticks, easily transforming into an angry mob. Therefore, knitters = angry mob.

The fabulous Gabbiana, whose blog I love so much, has another, and there are many posts dedicated to cheese. How awesome is that? I love cheese, but it does not love me. I eat it anyway. Go read it: Litvak … Continue reading

We played some Princess Bingo: Thanks to Marmadyth for the photos. She totally cleaned up in all games. Plus, we had beer.

Why I Knit, Reason #4

(4? Already? Okay, 4.) I knit to keep my hands busy. This is important for a number of reasons. Number one, I am an avid “picker”. (WARNING: entering TMI territory, very quickly). I pick at scabs, pick at my cuticles, … Continue reading

And now it’s Tuesday.

And I’m back into the swing of things, full force. I’d rather not be. Being away on vacation was excellent. We were kids for four whole days, and I so didn’t want to leave to go home. I gave Jennie … Continue reading

Back, round 2!

And I’m swamped, so I’ll post something more substantial later on. However, 20 of you have checked it, so I can’t disappoint, and so do not despair – check again later.

More holiday…

[Awesomely awesome photo from Stuck in Customs‘ flickr photostream] And since it will be over July 4th, it really is a holiday. I can be British and American English correct at the same time! But perhaps not grammatically correct. There’ll … Continue reading

Why I Knit, Reason #3

Because I am cheap. I am aware this is a fallacy, and I am fooling myself by believing this, but I’m going ahead with it. Allow me to explain. I am really awful at buying things for people, things I … Continue reading

Those zany Japanese

Are brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Never mind how silly I’d look with one of these; I simply must have one. No, really. I think it would add that certain “je ne sais quoi” I’ve been lacking. Much better than the conventional … Continue reading
