We celebrated Holi this year a day late, because of Gulf Wars, but it was so worth it. I convinced a group of unsuspecting friends (including Jennie and SurlyQueen) to go out to a little field next to Kennesaw State Park and play Holi, even though I didn’t tell them more than that they should wear clothes they didn’t care about ruining. (Heh heh heh.) The initial plan was to play at Gulf Wars, but I think I underestimated just how crazy busy an event like that is, and so the gulal came home with me (but soon-to-be-blogging-Lea, it’s on for next year, no excuses). I am buying even more next time around.
Anyway. I put the color into some deep-sided thalis I bought, got out some squeezy water bottles, and then started it off by smearing red on WH’s face. This sequence is basically start-to-finish, from only a little color to being totally covered in it.
The husband prepares some colored water. Next year I’ll buy more green and pink.
I got Jennie pretty good. She’s still cleaning red out of her ears.
And then she got me.
Handing out the thalis.
Wendi did a good job of avoiding us, except for that one time when I got her in the eye. Maybe that’s why she was avoiding us.
She had the monopoly on yellow. I was pretty covered in yellow.
There was a lot of cackling.
Ha ha yes.
We had a great time. It cost me maybe $10 and was more fun than I’ve had in a while. I know I giggled a whole lot.
The husband was so proud that he looked like this for the rest of the day:
Yep. I tried to clean it off his ear but he wouldn’t let me.
Here’s to next year!
