Oh, hat.

I recently marked something in my Ravelry project page as an FO. I did this sort of incorrectly, as it is not really finished, but it’s been so long since I’ve been able to do this, that I did it anyway.

The object in question is this:

Hat, MKII by you.

You will recognize it as the twin of a hat knit by the Chicken Goddess, only hers is better-fitting and truly finished. I like to think that I enjoyed this so much that I knit it twice, and here is the proof:

Two hats at once! by you.

Looks like two hats, you say. Well, well. How observant! It is indeed two hats, one knit on smaller needles and one knit on the correct needles. The one knit on smaller needles ended up being a large bun cover, and fits Lemmy Kilmouster nicely (you’ll just have to trust me on that for a bit, because I seem to have forgotten to upload a photo).

So I got another set of needles out, started from the outside of the ball of yarn, and knit another hat. This hat is the right size everywhere but the brim, which is much too large. I shall have to frog it back to where the band starts, and re-knit that part on smaller needles. I appear to have forgotten how much looser my purl stitches generally are. I’ll not make that mistake again.

I have gone to and from Virginia with Jennie, and appear to be only slightly exhausted, but in a good, happy kind of way. I got to spend time with a favorite author, plus many friends I only get to see once a year at DragonCon. I really wish everyone did not live so far away. It’s difficult to hang out with people who are in Virginia when you are in Georgia. It makes going out for pizza together kind of a trek.

Later today, or perhaps tomorrow, I will give my thoughts on Dhoom2, which is far superior to Dhoom, and a really entertaining 3 hours besides (though Baobh likens it to rap music, which I do not see but can respect).

About HappyGoth

By day, I'm a graphic designer. By night, I'm a knitter. I'm doing my part to keep Hotlanta stylish. I imagine that if you don't already understand the title of the blog, you're probably confused and perhaps slightly annoyed, but never fear - I do have a reason (and it's a good one). Having gone to hear Stephanie Pearl McPhee, and then having been inspired to blog about knitting, I found myself wondering what to call the blog. I recalled a conversation I had with Mouse and the Chicken Goddess about why it is a Bad Idea to anger knitters - this conversation was following SPM, aka the Yarn Harlot telling the assembled throng about Those Who Do Not Understand Knitting and Therefore Belittle It Much to the Chagrin of Others, or TWDNUKTBMCO, which is not the acronym she used but is the one I'm using because I forgot hers - that is, we are numerous and we all have very pointy sticks, easily transforming into an angry mob. Therefore, knitters = angry mob.

    I am, too. Whew.

I like to travel, but I like coming back home even better.

  3. Glad you had a good time, but I’m glad you’re back.

To qualify: I actually like some rap, I just don’t typically seek it out, as it isn’t normally my thing. This wasn’t as dire of an analogy as it would be for someone who had an intense hatred for rap.

A lot of it has to do with the tone that the women sing with, as my ears are pretty sensitive to high pitched noises and they hit a range that makes me somewhat uncomfortable.
