Is a first for me. After a few days of crazy work, we’re all going out for cocktails. I feel very incredibly grown-up, in a much more pleasant way than the first time I did my taxes. (Of course, afterward there might be a trip to the comic book shop, but then again – I hope I’m never too old to go to the comic book shop).
A useful tip for client meetings, that I have discovered today, is that you should not mention Chief Takehomeasack in the same conversation as diversity. Not the greatest idea.
I will have to email an ex-instructor; the most productive thing for me (creatively) from the meeting (which was very enlightening nonetheless) was that I came up with an idea for the failed Biota project of my seventh quarter of design school. It is an excellent idea, and I am currently frustrated at how creativity never responds to my demands. I am sorely tempted to execute it anyhow, and then enter it into a student competition under a pseudonym, and then when it doesn’t win show up to the award show in costume and drink a lot and complain about “the kids these days” or something. But this is really only in my imagination and I’m far too inhibited to actually do something like this.
My favorite thing this Friday is Ampersands. And pilcrows. And fists (I can’t find a link for this; it’s that little pointing finger character thing). And other obscure bits of type that have wonderful names. Favorite thing number two is dying yarn in the microwave with Koolaid, which I will do with gusto once I’ve dealt with our annual flea problem (Don’t get me started, Don’t EVEN get me started).
Annual flea problem? Oh for the love of FSM – I feel you on this one. We finally got the cat treated with flea medicine and the little bastards are finally dying in our house… I’m horribly allergic to fleas and so is my son. The worst part is that the fleas were here from previous tenants and it was a MAJOR infestation. I don’t even think they bothered to try and do anything about it.
