I’ve just been very busy. Mostly work, but also other things. Things such as:
At Knitsch this past Sunday, Lea (who I cannot find on the internet) showed up and finished her first pair of socks! And she learned a new bind-off! One I hope she’ll show me! (Exclamation point!) They really are quite beautiful. I started a pair at exactly the same time, since she and I were both being taught at the same time by the Chickengoddess, but she has been much more focused than I. Although I have started and made progress on several other projects in the meantime, I have not yet finished the socks, so that shows just how scatterbrained I am when it comes to being artistic. This is how I paint, as well. More on that sometime else.
She also made sure to press them to her face, as is generally a good idea with anything soft and knitted and wool, unless you are allergic. In that case, I’d advise against it. But she is not:
This is blurry but still quite adorable.
Along with the discussion of me starting things before I finish other things, I made some more progress on my Ladybug Jaywalkers, and have possibly convinced the Chickengoddess to make a pair of her own:
They are going along quite quickly and are very fun. The aforementioned Lea thinks she might be okay with top-down socks. I certainly am.
And then the Chickengoddess said I should photograph the socks with beer. So I did. She’s very persuasive.
The evening before, I went to a party hosted by Robert Lee of Methane Studios. It was a lot like a college party, in that we drank beer, watched a movie, and sat outside and talked a lot, and then someone brought out the Methane eyeball and burned it in effigy. I’m fond of this shot, taken after we decided to put it in the fire pit, for safety reasons:
Artistic, no? Well, at any rate, knitting the next day was fun because after the eyeball burning I drank too much and woke up with a killer hangover the next morning. That’ll teach me.

Dude, EVERYTHING is better with beer.
